The Opportunity: Western Art is a fast-growing auction category in Asia. Western Modern and Post-War Contemporary Art are all-time favorite, and recognized Western Contemporary Art are well-sought-after by second-generation collectors in Asa.
Job Purpose: Our client, a leading art auction house, is searching for a Director / Senior Specialist - Western Art with strong consignment sourcing capability and network to cater for this fast-developing category in Asia. Reporting to the Head of Department, the Western Art Specialist will be responsible for auction strategy, consignment sourcing, collection mix, appraisal and provenance, client getting, collector relations, post and pre-sale work, and overall performance for the Western Art category for auctions and private sales.
Requirements: The Western Art Specialist would have a recognized degree in Art History and Western Art related disciplines; in-depth knowledge and at least 10 years’ practical working experience in western art (modern and post-war contemporary), with excellent consignment and client network across the western art world and Asia.
